American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene

The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. Its mission is to advance global health by addressing infectious and other diseases that disproportionately affect impoverished populations worldwide. The Society brings together a diverse international membership of scientists, clinicians, students, and public health professionals engaged in research, healthcare delivery, and education.

Formed in 1951 through the merger of the American Society of Tropical Medicine (founded 1903) and the National Malaria Society (founded 1941), ASTMH today comprises over 2,700 members from across the globe, including North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

The Society publishes The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, a peer-reviewed monthly scientific journal covering research and practice in tropical medicine and global health.
