What is an ISSN, a DOI, or a PMID?

 These are all specific identifiers specific to an information source.


ISSN: The International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is a unique number used to identify a printed or electronic journal title (journal).

DOI: Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is used to uniquely identify online objects such as journal articles or datasets.

PMID: PubMed Identifier (PMID) is a unique number assigned to each PubMed reference.
