The Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a bimonthly peer-reviewed open-access medical journal published by Medknow Publications on behalf of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association. It covers pharmaceutics, biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmacy practice, and clinical and hospital pharmacy. Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (0250-474X), is the authority investigative distribution of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association. It began in 1939 as the Indian Journal of Pharmacy. Diary Ethics 

The Indian Journal of Pharmacy began in 1939 as "a quarterly diary gave to the Science and routine of Pharmacy in all its branches". The Chief Editor and the primary directing power behind the "Diary" was Prof. M. L. Schroff, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics, Benaras Hindu University, Benaras. Attributable to different challenges experienced in distributed the 'Diary" at Benaras, the Council of IPA chose in 1946 to depend the errand to its Bombay Branch, and to exchange the article and production workplaces to Bombay. Prof. M. L. Khorana, Head of the Pharmaceuticals Section, Department of Chemical Technology, Bombay University was asked for to take the Editorship. 

In 1949 it was chosen to distribute this diary bimonthly rather than quarterly. Not long after from January 1950 this diary began turning out as a month to month periodical. While Mr. S. P. Mukherji filled in as Assistant Editor from 1946 to 1952, in May 1950 Mr. N. S. Bhunvara joined as the second Assistant Editor. The Headquarters of the IPA were moved to Bombay with impact from first January 1953 and this aided significantly the distribution of this diary and its dissemination to individuals. Prof. Khorana surrendered as Editor of the diary with impact from 1 January 1954 and Dr. G. B. Ramasarma succeeded him as the Editor and Mr. A. I. Mehta and Dr. R. S. From 1959, Mr. L. S. Patel joined as the third Assistant Editor. In 1963, the Indian Journal of Pharmacy praised its Silver Jubilee. A point by point history of the Journal was distributed in the diary (IJP, 1963, 25, 8-17). The year 1969 spoke to a critical point of reference ever. 

From this year it changed its character from that of "the official production" of the IPA to that of "the authority investigative distribution" of the affiliation. Production of expert and other general articles and Association News was assumed control by another month to month periodical called "Pharmatimes" with Mr. A. I. Mehta as its Editor. The IJP turned into an only exploratory diary and the recurrence of its distribution was decreased to that of a bimonthly. 

Dr. R. S. Baichwal assumed control as the main Editor of this Journal. In 1979 the name of IJP was extended to the 'Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences'. In 1986, Dr. C. L. Kaul joined as the Associated Editor, went ahead to wind up the Editor in 1992 and proceeded till 1996. Dr. Rao V. S. V. Vadlamudi joined the article group as the Associate Editor in 1994, turned into the Editor in 1996 and keeps on being the Editor to date.
